ANANTAPUR, OCT. 5. The district Collector, Y.V. Anuradha, has asked officials to help uplift of the poor by implementing the Comprehensive Land Development Programme and Food Assurance Schemes properly. At a review meeting with MROs, MPDOs, mandal engineers, RDOs and district officials here on Tuesday, she explained that the Food Assurance Scheme was launched to prevent any poor suffering from hunger. The land development scheme was taken up to help economic development of the poor.
FAS in seven mandals
The Collector stated that FAS was taken up on a pilot basis in seven mandals with lowest rainfall. However, it would also be implemented in other mandals if wage seekers had no work. She noted that sufficient rice and Rs. 3-crore funds were available for the scheme. She directed officials to identify the villages where wage seekers had no work and to conduct gram sabhas to identify beneficiaries and the works to be taken up. The selected works could be grounded immediately by taking administrative sanction from special officers. The beneficiary families could take 40 kg rice four days after taking up the work along with Rs. 100 in cash, she said.
Land development
On the CLDP, the Collector instructed mandal officials to prepare project reports for the land blocks identified under the scheme. The Joint Collector, Shashibhushan Kumar, directed MROs to conduct gram sabhas to select beneficiaries for supply of rice under the old age pension scheme by October 15.
