GUWAHATI, OCT. 5. Suspected militants of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) today gunned down 10 more persons and injured five in lower Assam's Dhubri district this evening as violence continued for the fourth consecutive day. The State Home Commissioner, B.K. Gohain, told The Hindu that a group of suspected NDFB militants opened indiscriminate fire at Jolabeel village near the Mahamaya reserve forest under Bogoribari police station in Dhubri district at 6:30 p.m. The injured were taken to the Dhubri Civil Hospital. More details were awaited as the police team led by the Superintendent of Police, L.R. Bisnoi, was yet to return. On October 2, suspected NDFB militants gunned down 11 persons at Makrijhora under the same police station. The toll later rose to 14. Today's incident came a day after the Union Home Minister, Shivraj Patil, and the Assam Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi, visited Makrijhora and met the bereaved family members.
