THRISSUR, OCT. 5. A civic reception was accorded to Therambil Ramakrishnan to felicitate him on his election as Speaker of the Kerala Assembly. The Auxiliary Bishop, Mar Andrews Thazhath, inaugurated the function that was presided over by the Mayor, K. Radhakrishnan. The Kerala Sahitya Akademi secretary, P.V. Krishnan Nair, and the Public Library secretary, John Cyriac, proposed vote of thanks. Replying to the reception, the Speaker said that he would ensure smooth functioning of the Assembly by bringing in collaboration between the ruling and opposition fronts. He would also strive for the development of Thrissur, he added.
