MCA plea in Madras High Court
CHENNAI,
OCT. 5.
A writ petition challenging the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) decision disallowing the Maharashtra Cricket Association from casting its vote in the Board elections on September 29 was filed in the Madras High Court today.
According to the petitioner, Dnyaneshwar Agashe, Managing Committee chairman of the MCA, he had been arbitrarily disqualified from exercising his franchise in the BCCI presidential polls. Had the court-appointed Commissioner been permitted to conduct the elections such arbitrary disqualification would not have taken place, he said.
When contacted, counsel for Mr. Agashe said the petition was filed late in the evening. It was, however, yet to be numbered. If given a writ petition number, it will come up for hearing on Thursday or Friday, depending upon the convenience of other advocates of Mr. Agashe, it was said. — Our Staff Reporter
