No tangible gain from rain

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, OCT. 5. Heavy rain caused by the depression does not appear to have improved storages in major reservoirs of the State.

However, the stretch of the Krishna river between Nagarjunasagar and Prakasam barrage received what is usually described as `intermediary inflows' and at a heavy rate due to flash floods in the tributaries. With Prakasam barrage not having sufficient storage capacity to contain all the inflows, the barrage shutters have been opened to certain height. Sriramsagar and Nizamsagar remain almost empty.
