Seer stresses importance of literacy

CHITRADURGA, OCT. 5. Sri Shivamurthy Murugha Rajendra Sharanaru, seer of Murugha Mutt, Chitradurga, has urged people to become literate and end exploitation.

The seer inaugurated the buildings of Sri Jyothiba Phule Kannada Higher Primary School of Sri Keteshwara Vidya Peeta at Nayakara Sollapur near here on Monday.

The seer also stressed the need for every villager to become literate.

"If India has to develop, the villages have to prosper. Villages can flourish only if the villagers become literate. Only that will end exploitation," he said.

He lauded the efforts of Sri Basava Prabhu Keteshwara Swamiji of Sri Keteshwara Guru Peeta for coming forward to work in rural areas in educate the people.

He also congratulated the efforts of G.H. Thippa Reddy, Chitradurga MLA, for initiating development works.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Reddy commended the efforts of religious institutions in propagating education in rural areas.

Shivalingananda Swamiji of Sri Kabirananda Mutt, Eshwarananda Swamiji of Hosadurga, Basavaprabhu Keteshwara Swamiji of Sri Keteshwara Guru Peeta, and Basava Yadavananda Swamiji of Yadava Guru Peeta, were also present on the occasion.
