VISAKHAPATNAM, OCT. 5. P. Prasad, a salesman drowned near Railway New Colony on Tuesday evening. According to the Fifth Town Police, Prasad and his friend Simhadri who were travelling on a moped took the side road near Thatichetlapalem to avoid the Main Road that was flooded due to heavy rains. The moped skidded into the pit that was dug for Godavari pipeline. With rainwater flooding the pit to the brim, Prasad was drowned while Simhadri was rescued. Prasad's body has been retrieved and sent to the mortuary.
Chain-snatchers held
A five-member gang of chain-snatchers was arrested on Tuesday, while they were trying to sell the loot at a shop. According to the Fourth Town Police, S. Sudhakar, M. Gurunatha Rao, Ch. Satyanarayana and S. Ramesh were arrested, while the fifth member of the gang is absconding. The accused, all in their early twenties, were allegedly involved in over seven such offences, said the sub-inspector of the Station, Kameswara Rao. The accused have been sent to remand by the Third Metropolitan Court.
