Rain likely

Forecast: One or two spells of rain or thundershowers. At Waltair, the maximum temperature was 31 degree Celsius and the minimum as 24.2 degree Celsius on Tuesday. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 84 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 85 per cent. Rainfall up to 8.30 a.m. was 1.9 mm. and rainfall up to 8.30 p.m. was 14.0 mm.

At Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 33.2 degree Celsius and 25.2 degree Celsius. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 83 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 70 per cent. Rainfall up to 8.30 a.m. was 60.0 mm. and rainfall up to 8.30 p.m. was 1.0 mm.

The maximum and minimum temperature at Dolphin's Nose were 30.7 degree Celsius and 22.5 degree Celsius respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 85 per cent. Rainfall up to 8.30 a.m. was 1.4 mm.

Service Tax registration

Service providers, who have failed to register with the Office of the Central Excise Commissioner, can avail of the Extraordinary Taxpayer-Friendly Scheme, which will be in operation up to this month-end. According to the Commissioner, Ram Prakash, under the scheme, any service provider can make a declaration about his liabilities towards Service Tax and register on the spot. Scheme details can be had from the Commissioner's office in Port Area (Tel: 2568947 for Visakhapatnam, and 08922-223779 for Vizianagaram and Srikakulam).

Contests for children

Schoolchildren, interested in participating in the dancing, singing, painting and other competitions to be organised on the eve of the Children's Day at MGM Selvee World on November 13, can attend the selection process being conducted by the Blaze Dancing Den. Magnet therapy

A 10-day free magnetic treatment camp for patients with chronic and acute diseases, organised by Sri Santhi Ashramam and the Lawsons Bay Colony Residents' Welfare Association, opened at the ashramam premises on Sunday. Timings are: 9 a.m. to 12 noon and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
