Guntur
By Our Staff Reporter
GUNTUR, OCT. 5. A majority of MLAs at the District Review Committee meeting here on Tuesday demanded inclusion of some more mandals in the list of drought-affected ones. While the Telugu Desam MLA, Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar, was most vociferous in seeking the inclusion of Kakumanu and Pedanandipadu mandals in the list, Congress MLAs wanted Dachepalli, Bollapalli and Vinukonda mandals declared drought-hit. At the end of the discussion, the district in-charge Minister, Dharmana Prasada Rao, said, "MLAs take pride in getting their areas declared drought-affected rather than present a good picture." While 22 mandals were declared drought-hit in the first week of September depending on the rainfall figures available till August-end, a majority of the mandals would fail to stand the criteria for getting the benefits at the time of final declaration.
