VIJAYAWADA, OCT. 5. A 25-year-old man, M. Sambasiva Rao and his wife, M. Rama Devi (23) were seriously wounded after they were stabbed at their house at Kabela in One Town area during the wee hours of Tuesday following a family dispute. However, within minutes of the attack, two of the alleged attackers were caught by the victims' neighbours and handed over to the police.
Brother accused
According to police, Mr. Rao, who runs a two-wheeler stand at the railway station, had sub-leased it to his younger brother, M. Siva. However, a few days ago differences cropped up between the brothers over some financial matters. On Tuesday around 1 am, Siva along with two of his friends -- M. Ramakrishna and J. Durga Prasad -- reportedly came to the house of Mr. Rao and picked up an altercation. Siva is accused of whipping out a knife and stabbing Mr. Rao. When Ms. Devi tried to rescue her husband, she too was stabbed. However, on hearing the commotion, neighbours rushed to the rescue of the couple and managed to catch hold of Siva and Ramakrishna while Durga Prasad escaped. The condition of Ms. Rama Devi who suffered more than 10 injuries is serious, while Mr. Rao is said to be out of danger.
