Madurai
By Our Staff Reporter
MADURAI, OCT.5. The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court today stayed the operation of a charge memo issued to a suspended police inspector for allegedly participating in a conspiracy that led to the murder of two young men. The Madurai City Commissioner issued the memo to the Inspector, N. Suresh Babu, earlier attached to the K. Pudur police station. The memo issued under the Tamil Nadu Police Subordinate Services (Disciplinary and Appeal) Rules, 1955, charged him with instigating the murder and misconduct in not informing about the conspiracy to his higher officials. It also stated that the police officer was not honest in discharging his duty. In his petition, the suspended inspector stated that he was already facing a criminal case for his alleged involvement in the murder and if simultaneously a departmental proceeding were to be held, it would cause great prejudice to him, as he would be compelled to reveal his defence before the enquiry officer.
