Temperature

TIRUCHI, OCT. 5. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 33.4 degree Celsius and a minimum of 25.7 degree Celsius.

Fatal fall

A diesel assistant pilot (30) died after he fell down from the Howrah-Tiruchi Express while attempting to get down from the train in motion at the Ponmalai railway station today, the Government Railway Police here said.

The police said Satyendra Pal Singh had been undergoing training at the Diesel Traction Training Centre at Ponmalai. He was returning to Tiruchi from Mumbai by train to continue the training. The police have registered a case.

Mettur level

Water level at the Mettur reservoir stood at 87.53 feet today. The inflow was 15,141 cusecs and the discharge was 10,019 cusecs.
