A pleasant day ahead

NEW DELHI OCT. 5. A pleasant day awaits Delhiites on Wednesday with the weatherman forecasting a partly cloudy sky with the maximum and minimum temperatures hovering around 33 and 23 degrees Celsius mark respectively.

The maximum temperature recorded at Safdarjung on Tuesday was 31.8 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 23.8 degrees Celsius. At Palam, the maximum temperature and minimum temperatures were 31.7 and 24.5 degrees Celsius respectively.

The maximum humidity at Safdarjung and Palam was 90 per cent and 92 per cent respectively while the minimum relative humidity was 57 per cent and 56 per cent respectively.

Uttar Pradesh MLA arrested

NEW DELHI OCT. 5. An Uttar Pradesh MLA, who allegedly thrashed the security supervisor of a Vasant Kunj Residents' Welfare Association on Monday, has been arrested by the South-West Delhi police. A Delhi court today sent him to judicial custody.

It is learnt that on Monday night, the MLA from Etah area, Anar Singh, got into an altercation with the security supervisor of Vasant Kunj RWA over some issue and allegedly thrashed him. Mr. Singh owns a flat in the area.

The security supervisor, who had to be taken to a hospital, later lodged a complaint with the police, on the basis of which they registered a case of wrongful confinement, causing injury and criminal intimidation and arrested Mr. Singh. Further investigations into the matter are on.

Found murdered

NEW DELHI OCT. 5. A 23-year-old sweeper was found murdered on the side of a road in the R.K. Puram area of South West Delhi this morning. The police said the body of Aman, a resident of Sector 12, R.K. Puram, was found around 7 a.m. It bore stab marks on the chest.

The R.K. Puram police have registered a case of murder.
