Cleanliness drive

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, OCT. 5. The Minister for Education, E.T. Mohammed Basheer, has said that the Scouts and Guides movement should take the initiative in keeping the school premises clean and plastic-free. Inaugurating the State-level cleanliness drive launched by the Kerala State Bharat Scouts and Guides here today, he said the Government would implement certain novel schemes for promoting the activities of the movement.

Water disruption

The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) has announced that water supply would be disrupted partially from 8 p.m. on October 6 to 8 a.m. on October 7, in the Beemappally, Poonthura, Kamaleswaram, Ambalathara, Manacud and Thruvallom areas on account of the work at Kamaleswaram junction.

Course in public speaking

The next batch of the course in public speaking, conducted by the YMCA, begins on October 6. The course is being conducted specifically for working professionals and will be held from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. The 15-day course includes training and practice sessions. Employment registration

All activities relating to registration, renewal of registration and entry of details of certificates, at the Rural Employment Exchange, Ulloor, will remain suspended from October 6 to 20, on account of preparation of select lists for 2005-07, according to the Employment Officer.

`SPOTS' services

The Kerala Postal Circle has launched `SPOTS' services in Thiruvananthapuram city, as a pilot project, to provide pick up facility for all sorts of mail items from the customers' premises. Customers can contact telephone number 3139150 during working hours and the postman will be at the doorstep to collect the mail items.
