HYDERABAD, OCT.5. The State Government has fixed the financial aid to be given to the corporate hospitals which perform surgeries on children suffering from heart diseases at 20 per cent less than the charges levied by the Nizam's Institute of Medical sciences (NIMS).
Nine categories
For the purpose of costing, the paediatric heart surgeries have been classified into nine categories, according to a GO issued in this regard. The cardiac problems not included in the categories would be examined and put in appropriate category on a case-to-case basis by the central cell at Gandhi Hospital in consultation with the Director, Medical Education.
Nearest cardiac cells
The child patients, who were screened at medical camps conducted by the Government on August 14, 16, 22, 28 and 29, shall go to the nearest cardiac cells constituted in the Osmania Hospital, Gandhi (Padmaraonagar, Hyderabad) MGM (Warangal), Government hospitals at Kakinada, Guntur, Kurnool and King George, Visakhapatnam. Those who gathered here on August 7 will be referred by cardiac cell of Gandhi hospital. Listing the guidelines on implementation of the health scheme, the GO said the private hospitals/ Nizam's Institute of Medical sciences participating in the programme shall not charge any amount from the patients referred by cardiac cells and submit the bills to the Director of Medical Education for payment. Meanwhile, the Government also constituted a five-member committee to scrutinise the bills and recommend to DME for payment.
