This Day That Age
Sir John Kotelawala, Prime Minister of Ceylon, said in Bombay on October 6 that the whole Indo-Ceylonese problem would be finally settled in Delhi. He was quite hopeful that some settlement would be found in the talks between his Government's delegation and the Government of India's delegation. When asked about his reported statement that Ceylon would go to the U.N. if the Indo-Ceylonese problem was not amicably settled, Sir John said that it was not correct. Ceylon was not even a member of the U.N., he added. The Ceylonese delegates, headed by the Prime Minister, arrived in Bombay by a TWA plane. They were received at the Santa Cruz airport by Mr. Girja Shankar Bajpai, Governor of Bombay, and Mr. Morarji Desai, Chief Minister.
