This Day That Age
The last batch of Indian troops arrived at Gangtok on October 5 from Tibet. There is now not a single Indian soldier in Tibet. The troops consist of ten military personnel. Indian troops were posted as escorts to Indian trade agents in Tibet under the Indo-Tibet Trade Regulation of 1910, signed between the then British Government of India and the Tibetan Government under the Dalai Lama. These troops have now been withdrawn in accordance with the recent Sino-Indian agreement.
