KHAMMAM, OCT. 6. The Minister for Municipal Administration, Koneru Ranga Rao, said on Wednesday that unauthorised power connections would be disconnected after November 15. Addressing a news conference, Mr. Ranga Rao said complaints about low voltage and irregular supply were pouring in. The only way out at this juncture was to deal sternly with unauthorised power connections. It would be taken up as a drive once the standing crops were ready for harvest.
Situation reviewed
He said the interests of farmers came first, but unless the illegal connections were disconnected, the whole system was likely to collapse. The Government had reviewed the situation and farmers with genuine connections would not be let down under any circumstances. They would be given supply for the stipulated hours and the complaints of low voltage would be taken care of.
Pulichintala on course
The Minister said that construction of Pulichintala Project would take place, come what may. The benefits of the balancing reservoir on the Krishna would not be confined to the coastal region. It would benefit some pockets in Telangana region also. The revival of the fortunes of the peasant community was the prime concern of Rajasekhara Reddy Government, he added. The Minister, who came here to attend the district review committee meeting, was accorded a rousing welcome by party activists. All Congress MLAs from the district, Sambhani Chandrasekhar, Vanama Venkateswar Rao, R. Venkata Reddy, Jalagam Venkata Rao, met him at the guesthouse.
