Rain likely

Forecast: A spell of rain or thundershowers.

At Waltair, the maximum temperature was 31.4 degree Celsius and the minimum was 24.0 degree Celsius on Wednesday. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 87 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. it was 84 per cent. Rainfall up to 8.30 a.m. was 28.6 mm. and up to 8.30 p.m. it was 0.1 mm.

At Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 33.6 degree Celsius and 25.6 degree Celsius respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 87 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. it was 75 per cent. Rainfall up to 8.30 a.m. was 60.8 mm. and up to 8.30 p.m. it was 2.0 mm.

The maximum and minimum temperatures at the Dolphin's Nose were 31.8 degree Celsius and 22.5 degree Celsius respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 88 per cent. Rainfall up to 8.30 a.m. was 8.9 mm.

Rath yatra

The 150th birth anniversary of Sri Sarda Devi will be organised on Saturday by the Vivekananda Yuva Mahamandal. A rath yatra will be taken out at 4 p.m. from RTC Complex to the Kali temple at the Ramakrishna Beach via Dabagardens, Jagadamba Junction, Collectorate and Zilla Parishad, culminating in a public meeting.

Nama saptaham

The 53rd Kusuma Haranatha Nama Saptaham (non-stop chanting for seven days) will be celebrated at the Sri Mandir holy shrine at Sonamukhi in West Bengal from October 16, according to the honorary president of the mandir, S.P. Reddy. Devotees from all over the country and abroad are expected to participate.

Firing practice

The Naval Armament Depot personnel will conduct firing practice at Yendada village on the outskirts of the city from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The District Collector, Praveen Prakash, has called upon the people of the surrounding villages to remain alert and abstain from going near the firing area.

Pay revision

The Pay Revision Commissioner, J. Rambabu, will address pensioners and employees of Andhra University at the PRC meeting on Thursday.

Review meet

The Visakha Film Society will hold a review meeting on Nandi awards and an awareness programme on Satyajit Ray's films at the State Information Centre in RTC Complex on Friday, according to its director, P.V. Krishna Rao (cell: 94407-62422).

Magnet therapy

The 10-day free magnetic treatment camp for patients with chronic and acute diseases, jointly organised by Sri Santhi Ashramam and the Lawsons Bay Colony Residents' Welfare Association, opened on the ashramam premises on Sunday. Its timings are: 9 a.m. to 12 noon and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Rajayoga training

The Institute of Sri Ramchandra Consciousness will conduct a Rajayoga training course on its premises in 16 G.F. Sea Sands Quarters of Andhra University on Saturday and Sunday. Interested can register themselves by ringing up 2567953/2763753.
