Tumkur institute launches MBA course

TUMKUR, OCT. 8. The HMS Institute of Technology (HMSIT) launched a course in Master of Business Administration (MBA) on its new campus at Kyatsandra near here today.

Participating in the inaugural function, the Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Mohammed Ashraf Ali Fatmi, and the Minister for Higher Education, D. Manjunath, praised S. Shafi Ahmed, chairman, HMS Education Society, for "his efforts in imparting quality education to the poor in a rural place''. They promised that the Centre and the State Government would offer all help and cooperation to the HMSIT. Mr. Fatmi gave away certificates to 400 women who underwent training in eight community polytechnics run by HMSIT. Mr. Manjunath said Karnataka was the first State to encourage minorities to open professional colleges.

Mr. Shafi Ahmed welcomed the gathering. Nazeer Ahmed, former MLA and chief executive of Delixus Inc., U.S., Basavaraju, Director of Technical Education, the principal of the HMSIT, K.V. Jayadevappa, the vice-principal, S. Rafeeq Ahmed, and Veerabhadrappa, spoke. Sheik Ahmed Maulana, Joint Director of Islamic Studies, Kerala, Jyoti Ganesh, secretary, Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology, Gubbi, Peter from Chennai, and S.P. Singh from All India Council for Technical Education were present. Sridhar, director of the MBA course, proposed a vote of thanks.
