18 shortlisted for `melshanti' posts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, OCT. 8. Nine persons each were shortlisted for the posts of `melshantis' of the Sannidhanam and Malikappuram temples for the coming pilgrim season in Sabarimala at an interview held on Thursday.

The interview was held by a team that comprised N. Babu, president of the Travancore Devaswom Board and Tantris Kantararu Maheswararu and Kantararu Mohanaru.

Those who have made it to the Sabarimala melshanti list are T.K. Sreedharan Namboodiri, N.N. Krishnan Namboodiri, K.N. Vasudevan Namboodiri, V. Muralidharan Namboodiri, K. Narayanan Namboodiri, C.N. Krishnan Namboodiri, K.P. Narayanan Namboodiri, T. Dadmodaran Namboodiri and P. Damodaran Namboodiri.

Those in the list for Malikappuram melshanti are K. Krishnan Namboodiri, N. Krishnan Namboodiri, N. Damodaran Potti, Rajiv V. Namboodiri, S.E. Sankaran Namboodiri, S. Madhavan Namboodiri, P.S. Raman Embranthiri, M.D. Venu Namboodiri and K. Sreekrishna Kadamannayar.

The melshanthis will be selected on the first of the Malayalam month of Thulam that falls on October 17.
