Shooting
By Kirti Patil
INDORE, OCT. 8. Indian Airlines' Shweta Choudhry shot her personal best score in the classification rounds and then blasted 101.4 in the final to win the women's 25m sports pistol title in the 48th National shooting championships at the Reoti Ranges near here on Friday. Having scored 577 in the classification round, Shweta had a handy six-point lead over the defending champion and National record holder Sushma Rana. In the final, Shweta produced eight plus-10 scores in an impressive series of 10.7, 10.6, 10.6, 10.5, 8.9, 10.4, 10.2, 10.2, 10.1 and 9.2, while Sushma messed up with just three 10s and her lowest being an 6.4. The total of 678.4 helped Shweta to her maiden sports pistol title after having been the 10m air pistol champion in the Nationals at Pillaur (2000) and Bangalore (2002). Thanks to Shweta's performance and the fifth placed Anu Raj Singh, Indian Airlines bagged the women's team title with a total of 1667. Uttar Pradesh came a distant second while Infantry Kids settled for the team bronze.
