HYDERABAD, OCT. 8. The Governor, Surjit Singh Barnala, has underlined the need for inducing creative and analytical thinking among engineering students and not just academic abilities. "Indian engineers should also be known as creators of new products and ventures," he said after inaugurating a national symposium on `Student empowerment for global challenges' at Guru Nanak Engineering College at Ibrahimpatnam here on Friday Citing an example, Mr. Barnala said that a few years ago, a student from Hyderabad, Sanjeev Sandhu, who had gone to the US for taking up chemical engineering, landed up in Information Technology sector. "Now, he is the second richest Indian in America," he said, adding that students should nurture high hopes.
Opportunities aplenty
Pointing out that industry and service sectors were expanding rapidly in and around Hyderabad, he said a world of opportunities awaited fresh engineering graduates. Dr. Y. Venkatarami Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Vijay Kumar, Director, Software Technology Park of India, H.S. Virk, Principal of the College and the Chairman Tavinder Singh Kohli also spoke.
