TDP, CPI to file cases against policemen
By Our Special Correspondent
ONGOLE,
OCT. 8.
The Telugu Desam and Left parties have threatened to intensify agitation if the Government fails to release Nagarjunasagar water for paddy crop in zone II lying in Prakasam district in next few days.
They have also demanded that non-bailable cases filed against farmers and leaders be withdrawn immediately.
The TDP and CPI have decided to file cases in court against the police for lathicharging farmers who were agitating for water at Prakasam Bhavan on Tuesday and for abusing them.
The CPI floor leader, Ch. Venkata Reddy, enquired about the health of injured farmers in the Government hospital here today.
At a press conference, the TDP district president and Addanki MLA, Karanam Balaramakrishna Murthy, squarely blamed the police for Tuesday's episode. He alleged that farmers were lathicharged without any provocation.
