HYDERABAD, OCT.8. A Division Bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice Devinder Gupta and Justice C.V. Ramulu on Friday declared that the petitions pertaining to the Pulichintala project and shortlisting of companies for taking up various major irrigation projects would be heard on October 25, after the Dasara vacation. It may be recalled that a public interest petition was filed by Dolendra Prasad, Editor of a Telugu fortnightly, questioning the shortlisting of nine companies who will be handed over all major irrigation projects in the State right from the design stage. The Government had tried to explain away some of the technical issues raised by the petitioner and when the case was heard in the afternoon session, the Bench said all decisions would be subject to further orders and posted the matter to October 25.
Special mention
When a special mention of the Pulichintala project was made by senior advocate D. Prakash Reddy, the Bench said this case too would be listed after the Dasara vacation. A contempt petition was filed alleging that the State Government had gone back on the assurance given to the court in an earlier case wherein the Government's decision to go ahead with the project was questioned. In that case the court was informed that work on the project would be taken up only after clearance from the Environment Ministry.
