ADILABAD, OCT. 8. The District Medical and Health Officer, M. Kesava Rao, on Friday urged the Education and Women and Child Development departments not to sanction leave to teachers and anganwadi workers during October 10 and 12 in view of the pulse polio immunisation (PPI) drive. Addressing newsmen here today, he said no leave would be sanctioned to doctors and paramedical staff also. The DM&HO said request was also being made to the RTC and railway authorities to make public announcement on polio drops being administered at the stations for the benefit of travelling public. He said special teams and PPI posts had been constituted for the purpose of administering the polio drops at bus and railway stations. Mr. Kesava Rao said 5.20 lakh doses of polio drops had been delivered to the respective primary health centres in the district. A total of 3,64,529 children between the age group of 0 to 5 years would be the covered under the immunisation programme.
