By Our Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, OCT. 8. The Cantonment police have arrested three persons suspected to be responsible for a series of burglaries and chain- snatching incidents in the city.

The Circle Inspector (Cantonment), K. E. Baiju, identified the accused as Unni alias Vivek (27) of Vilapilsala, Shaji (23) of Aruvikkara and `Tatha' Binu (22) of Vilapilsala.

The CI said the theft of a motorbike from Tagore Theatre and more than 12 burglaries reported from residential areas in Idapazhanji, Poojappura, Malayinkeezhu, Kattakada and Aryanadu in the district have been traced back to the accused. The police suspect the gang to be responsible for some chain-snatching incidents reported from within city limits in the past one month.

The police are in the process of recovering gold ornaments and electronic goods allegedly stolen by the accused. The police said the gang used stolen motorbikes for their operations. The accused were produced before the court and remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.
