Kramnik needs a win

BRISSAGO (SWITZERLAND), OCT. 9. Peter Leko's remarkable victory on Thursday night has put pressure right back on V. Kramnik in the Dannemann World classical chess championship.

The Russian now needs at least one win to retain the title, as he trails 3.5-4.5 after eight games. Friday was a rest day. If Leko, the challenger from Hungary, could avoid a defeat in the remaining six games, the title will be his. He needs to score 7.5 points, while seven will do for Kramnik.
