BANGALORE, OCT. 9. Sports Authority of India (SAI) defeated former champion Indian Telephone Industries (ITI) 2-0 on the penultimate day of the Super Division Football League for the George Hoover Cup, at the Football stadium on Saturday. ITI, relegated to A division, was listless. With the management unsure of its stand in maintaining the team, there seems to be little or no interest among the players. Sorry state for a team that once posed a threat to the best in the country. SAI, promoted last season, struck once in either half. Sathyaraj found the net in the 27th minute and then crossed for D. Ravi, who scored in the 68th minute. While ITI finished its engagements with three points from nine matches, SAI has a match in hand against BEL, which was abandoned due to rains, on the morrow. SAI has 10 points from 8 encounters.
