BANGALORE, OCT. 9. The city police are on a high alert after nine temples in different parts of the city received letters threatening to blow them up on October 22 if the Government did not take steps to halt the alleged corruption, caste-based discrimination, and misuse of money. The chief priests of the temples received the letters by post. The letters were written in English under the letterhead, "Lead Group for heralding novel civilised society." The temples which received the letters are situated near K.R. Road, Sajjan Rao Circle, Basavanagudi, Jayanagar 9th block, K.R. Road, J.P. Nagar, Mysore Bank Circle and Majestic Circle. Following complaints from the temple priests, the city Police Commissioner, S. Mariswamy, promised that all precautions would be taken to prevent any untoward incident. The letters were being assessed, he added. The bomb disposal and dog squads searched the temple premises. "It is probably a hoax. We are assessing it," Mr. Mariswamy told The Hindu .
