ANANTAPUR, OCT. 10. The State secretary of Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham and former MLA of CPI, K. Ramakrishna, has urged the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, to provide input subsidy of Rs. 500 per acre to groundnut farmers in Anantapur. In a letter to the Chief Minister on Sunday, he said due to good rain in July farmers had cultivated groundnut in 20.90-lakh acres. But, the crop yield was below expectation due to scanty rainfall and attack of stem necrosis and red-hairy caterpillar. Farmers who had suffered crop loss in the 2003 kharif without insuring their crop and those who had received either meagre or nil insurance benefit , were expecting some relief , he said
