PW bandh peaceful

By Our Staff Reporter

NALGONDA, OCT. 10. The district bandh observed by the People's War on Sunday in protest against the construction of the Pulichintala project went off peacefully.

The Superintendent of Police, N. Balasubramanyam, said there was no impact of the bandh even in the naxal-affected areas. The district police patrolled sensitive areas to prevent any untoward incident. The Police Department used two RTC buses to ply police personnel from plain to remote areas.

Speaking to The Hindu, the Mellachervu SI, P. Prasad, said, "It is like any other day." About 15 villages and hamlets in Mellacheruvu mandal will be submerged if the project is constructed.

The RTC authorities also said the impact was nil. The local depot managers were asked to coordinate with the police to prevent any incident.
