VISAKHAPATNAM, OCT. 10. The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has evolved a common test pattern for combined recruitment of State and subordinate service (gazetted and non-gazetted) posts from this year. The G.O. Ms. no. 314, accepting the APPSC proposal to conduct a common test for filling posts belonging to miscellaneous categories not covered under Group I and II, was issued on October 4. The scheme, designed on the pattern of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination format, will give candidates an option to select subjects of their choice for the written test. The list of 28 optional subjects as prescribed for Group I and II services, will be adopted as one of the options. Candidates have to undergo an objective type test with general studies, optional subject (each 150 marks) and an oral test (30 marks). The APPSC member, C. Chandrasekhar, who was here to monitor the conduct of Group I test, told reporters on Sunday that they had already issued a notification for the recruitment of 88 gazetted and 164 non-gazetted posts under the miscellaneous categories. The sale of applications will begin on October 25 and the last date for submission of filled-in applications is November 20.
Vacant posts
The posts include assistant directors of Marketing, Horticulture, BC Welfare, Town and Country Planning, Economics and Statistics, assistant social welfare officer and assistant tribal welfare officer in the gazetted category. The non-gazetted posts include junior and senior assistants, inspectors (legal metrology), junior translator and assistant motor vehicle inspectors.
