By Our Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM, OCT. 10. Four CPI-ML People's War (PW) members belonging to the Korukonda Local Guerrilla Squad (LGS), including a woman, surrendered before the Superintendent of Police, Sanjay Kumar Jain, here on Sunday.

Korra Appa Rao alias Sanjeev (24), Gunta Labbo alias Naresh (22), Vanthala Sanjeeva Rao alias Venu (23), and Korra Santhi (20) surrendered on "health grounds", a police spokesman said.

The lone woman member, Santhi, hailing from Pedavalasa village of Gudem Kotha Veedhi mandal, used to carry a double-barrel gun during her stint in Korukonda dalam.

Incidentally, all the surrendered naxalites hail from Gudem Kotha Veedhi mandal and had allegedly taken part in the attack on the Anakapalle and the Chodavaram police stations two-and-half-years ago.

Appa Rao worked as deputy commander and carried a .303 rifle. He allegedly took part in the attack on Koraput police station in Orissa and was involved in the exchange of fire with the police at Garikabanda in the district.
