Andhra Pradesh reigns supreme

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, OCT. 10. Gymnasts from Andhra Pradesh helped their side make a clean sweep of all the six team titles as the second South India gymnastics championship concluded at the LNCPE indoor stadium, Kariyavattom, here on Sunday.

Andhra which retained its men's and women's titles with ease also claimed the top honours in all the newly-introduced four sections — junior boys and girls and sub-junior boys and girls. Besides, the champion side also took the overall championship title with a tally of 645 points ahead of host Kerala (618.5) and Tamil Nadu (572).

Team championship positions:

Men: 1. Andhra Pradesh (130 points), 2. Kerala (125), 3. Tamil Nadu (120). Junior boys: 1. Andhra Pradesh (122), 2. Kerala (120), 3. Tamil Nadu (110). Sub-junior boys: 1. Andhra Pradesh (120), 2. Kerala (110), 3. Tamil Nadu (90). Women: 1. Andhra Pradesh (96.50), 2. Kerala (92.50), 3.Tamil Nadu (90). Junior girls: 1. Andhra Pradesh (93.50), 2. Kerala (91), 3. Tamil Nadu (86.50). Sub-junior girls: 1. Andhra Pradesh (83), 2. Kerala (80), 3. Tamil Nadu (76).
