Adarsh claims title

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, OCT. 10. State No. 4 P. Adarsh (YMCA) shocked teammate and State No. 1 C.J. Balaji 15-13, 9-11, 11-6, 11-5, 6-11, 11-7 to claim the men's singles title in the Thiruvananthapuram district table tennis championship which concluded at the YMCA hall here on Sunday.

Top-seeded Aparna D. Nair (NKMTTC) lifted the women's singles crown defeating Meenu Raj (KNMTTC) 11-9, 8-11, 9-11, 12-10, 11-3, 11-5. N. Chandran won the veterans' singles title.

The results: Men: singles: final: P. Adarsh (YMCA) bt C.J. Balaji (YMCA) 15-13, 9-11, 11-6, 11-5, 6-11, 11-7. Semifinals: P. Adarsh bt S. Sreeraj (KNMTTC) 11-9, 15-17, 11-5, 7-11, 11-7, 11-8; C.J. Balaji bt V. Vidhun (NKMTTC)11-8, 11-7, 11-5, 11-7.

Women: singles: final: Aparna D. Nair (NKMTTC) bt Meenu Raj (KNMTTC) 11-9, 8-11, 9-11, 12-10, 11-3, 11-5. Semifinals: Aparna D. Nair bt Anju K. Thomas (KNMTTC) 6-11, 11-9, 3-11, 11-7, 7-11, 11-4, 11-4; Meenu Raj bt M.S. Bindu (NKMTTC) 13-15, 11-9, 11-8, 13-11, 12-14, 8-11, 11-7.

Veterans: singles: final: N. Chandran bt V.P. Pillai 11-8, 10-12, 11-4, 5-11, 11-9.
