ANNAMALAI NAGAR, OCT. 10. Nagarjuna University retained the women's title defeating last year's runner-up Calicut 2-0 in the final of the South Zone inter-university badminton tournament here on Sunday. Lakshmi of Nagarjuna bt Nina Lakshmi of Calicut 11-3, 11-0 in the singles. In the doubles, Nagarjuna pair Aswini Chowdry and Sowmy bt Calicut pair Merit George and Susan Rajan 15-6, 15-8. In the third place play-off, Osmania University bt host Annamalai University 2-0.
Quarterfinals: Annamalai bt Madurai Kamaraj 2-0; Osmania bt Visweswariah Tech. University 2-1; Nagarjuna w/o Kerala; Calicut bt Bangalore 2-0.
