BANGALORE, OCT. 10. The Hennur Police took in to custody 16 persons on Sunday on the charge of assaulting a constable. The constable, Shivalingaiah, attached to the Hennur Police Station, had tried to intervene in an altercation between Hoskote Prakash, who was disputing the ownership of a site, claimed by Hennur Sonnamma, the police said. Prakash's supporters accosted Shivalingaiah and assaulted him, the police said. They were taken into custody, the police said. The constable, who was injured, was treated at a hospital, the police added.
