Boy run over

Six-year-old J. Venkatesh of Satyanarayan Nagar Colony in Tappachabutra was run over by a lorry on Sunday morning. The police said Venkatesh was playing outside his house when the sand-laden lorry ran over him killing him instantly. The lorry driver was reportedly taken into custody.

House burgled

Robbers broke into the house of a businessman, T. Bhanu Prasad at Osmangunj and decamped with jewellery and cash worth Rs. 7.50 lakhs. According to the Afzalgunj police, Mr. Prasad along with his family were away at his farm house at Ghatkesar for the weekend on Saturday evening when the offence was committed. The police suspect the involvement of a professional gang.

Three held on murder charge

The Chilkalguda police arrested three persons allegedly responsible for the murder of a railway porter, Venkat, at Chilkalguda crossroads on the night of September 18. The accused were identified as Shiva Kumar, G. Santosh Reddy and M. Shanker. The three along with two others, Mahender and Vijay, in an inebriated condition had picked up a quarrel with the victim, smashed his head with a boulder and fled.

Raid on `gaming house'

Sleuths of North zone task force team raided a premises at the Railway Institute, New Bhoiguda from where `gaming' was being run, and arrested 14 persons found playing cards. The police seized Rs. 9,060 from them. The gaming was reportedly being run from a quarter of a railway employee, Mohammed Yousuf, who is among the arrested.
