Women's panel for police cell to tackle harassment cases

By Our Staff Reporter

KANNUR, OCT. 11. The Kerala State Women's Commission has called for a separate police cell for looking into cases of harassment against women.

Briefing mediapersons after the Commission's sitting at the Collectorate Conference Hall here today, the Commission Chairperson, M. Kamalam, said the commission, under its present set-up, could only seek involvement of the existing police system to investigate cases of harassment that had been brought before it. Only a separate system in the police machinery that was equipped to solely handle such cases could deliver, Ms. Kamalam said.
