THRISSUR, OCT. 11. Kalamandalam Vasu Pisharody (`Kathakali vesham'), Kalamandalam Hyderali (Kathakali music), Sadanam Vasudevan (chenda), Kalamandalam Eswara Warrier (maddalam) and Kalanilayam Parameswaran (chutti) have been chosen for the Irinjalakuda Unnayi Warrier Smaraka Kalanilayam Golden Jubilee awards. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, the secretary of the Kalanilayam, K.N. Unnikrishnan, said the awards would be presented during the Golden Jubilee celebrations. The awards carry a purse of Rs. 5,000, citation and a statuette. The former Principals of Kalanilayam, Kalamandalam S. Appu Marar, Raghavan and Kalamandalam Kuttan, have been selected for lifetime achievement awards. The former Principal, Pallipuram Gopalan Nair, would be honoured posthumously.
