WASHINGTON, OCT 12. The Democratic vice-presidential nominee, Senator John Edwards, has criticised the Bush administration on Iraq, saying that Saddam Hussein's `intent' to go after weapons of mass destruction does not justify war. "There are a lot of threats waiting to happen all over the world. That does not mean that that justifies invading a country," he said. Mr. Edwards said while he voted for the Iraq Resolution, this did not give any authorisation to start a `mess.' "It was right to confront Saddam. But we did not authorise this President to make the mess they have made", he said.
