All set for byelections
NEW DELHI,
OCT. 12.
Several parts of the country are having byelections tomorrow. Tight security arrangements have been made for the byelection to the Bidar (reserved) Lok Sabha constituency, which will witness a stiff contest among the BJP, and the coalition partners — Congress and Janata Dal (Secular).
The Kapurthala and Garhshankar Assembly constituencies in Punjab will go for the byelections amid heavy security. The Guler Assembly constituency in Himachal Pradesh too goes for bypoll.
Tight security for the Konthoujam byelection had been made in view of the poll boycott and general strike called by the Apunba Lup.
In view of the strike call given by the breakaway Hurriyat Conference, authorities have made tight security arrangments in Pahalgam and Batmaloo Assembly constituencies.
