BHEL employee wins award for anti-smoking slogan

OCT. 12.
V. Regunathan, purchase officer, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Tiruchi, has won the best prize for coining the best anti-smoking slogan at VII Asia Pacific Conference on Tobacco or Health, held at Gyeongju, South Korea, recently.
"Smoking injures your health - No smoking insures your health" was the winning entry. The conference on the theme `Further expansion of smoke-free areas,' attracted more than 450 delegates from 50 countries.
Mr. Regunathan was one of the 27 scholarship awardees from developing countries. He presented three papers at the conference. He had coined more than 2,500 anti-smoking slogans in English and 1,000 in Tamil.
