This Day That Age
Mr. Robert L. Garner, Vice-President of the World Bank, said in Karachi on October 13 that the Bank was convinced that India had so far not withdrawn water unilaterally from Pakistani canals. He said India was keen to avoid taking "unilateral action" in respect of diverting canal waters to her territory. The World Bank regretted that Pakistan did not see her way to accept the Bank's proposals for a solution of the Indo-Pakistan canal waters dispute without reservations as India had done. Pakistan had not yet replied to the Bank's last invitation for resumption of tripartite talks in Washington some time in November.
