Raichur
By Our Staff Correspondent
RAICHUR, OCT. 13. The Raichur Chamber of Commerce and Industry has opposed the State Government's decision to re-introduce entry tax saying that it would cause unnecessary harassment of people. In a statement released here on Wednesday, V. Thimma Reddy, president of the chamber, and Mylapur N. Murthy, secretary, said that the introduction of entry tax would be detrimental to the interests of industrialists and businessmen as they were already burdened with heavy taxes. They said that people had bitter experiences when earlier Governments had introduced entry tax. The imposition of entry tax on all goods brought from outside the State would encourage officials of the departments concerned to cause unnecessary delay in releasing the goods. This could lead to corruption as well, they said.
