Belgaum
By Our Staff Correspondent
BELGAUM, OCT. 13. The Nadahabba, which was not celebrated here for the past few years, will be organised with traditional grandeur this time. Announcing that the five-day event would be inaugurated on Friday, the working president of the Nadahabba Utsav Samithi, Ramesh Kudachi, MLA, said certain lapses in organising the festival would be corrected. Siddangouda Patil, Kannada activist and former Mayor, said efforts had been made to introduce tableaux this year. These tableaux would showcase development and progress in the region. Various cultural troupes, especially a dance troupe using life-size dolls, would be the cynosure of all eyes on the inaugural day. Suresh Angadi, MP, who was present, said some linguistic communities had not been involved in some events slated during the festivities, which was owing to oversight. One of the important events would be a seminar on the "Relevance of separate Statehood" (for north Karnataka). Apart from a poets' meeting and seminar on "Our customs and traditions" and "Contributions of Kanakadasa to Dasa Sahitya", there would be cultural programmes whcih will be held in the evenings.
