Jharkhand lists 459 `tainted' officials

3. In the light of the Jharkhand High Court directive, the State Government has prepared a list of "tainted" officials. Acting upon a public interest litigation petition, the High Court had directed the Government last week to submit a list of "tainted" officials holding key posts despite facing criminal cases.
According to defence counsel, Dilip Jairath, the Government has prepared a list of 459 "tainted" officials facing grave charges. This includes IAS, IFS and State Administrative Service cadres. Sources said the present list differed from the one prepared by the Government earlier. The previous list contained more IAS officers.
