CBI interrogates Jayalakshmi

By Our Staff Reporter

MADURAI, OCT. 13. Sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation grilled A. Jayalakshmi (32) of Sivakasi for nearly ten hours at a special police establishment office on the railway station premises here today.

They summoned Ms. Jayalakshmi to the office and started questioning her from around 8.30 a.m. Though her counsel claimed to have submitted copies of some important documents, the investigators denied having taken any. They said the enquiry would continue if required at a later stage.

All through the questioning, the officials were `cordial' and provided food/refreshments at regular intervals, Ms. Jayalakshmi said and added that the enquiry was `fair' and `impartial.'

The CBI is investigating, on directions from the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, allegations levelled by Ms. Jayalakshmi against 20 plus police personnel in the State accusing them of grave offences such as `abduction', `sexual exploitation', `harassment' and `cheating.'
