KCR hints at sounding out People's War

By Our Staff Reporter

SIDDIPET, OCT. 13. The Union Minister and Telangana Rastra Samthi president, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has welcomed the People's War stand on separate Telangana State. He said this at Chintamadka village of Siddipet mandal here today.

Speaking to reporters on the chances of TRS working hand in hand with People's War for separate statehood, he did not rule out talks with PW at a later date. However, he said that his party believed in achieving Telangana State through principles of parliamentary democracy and not through violence.

Pulichintala

The TRS would oppose construction of Pulichintala at the present location, as it would hurt the interests of Telanagana region, including that of the cement industry in Nalgonda district, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao said. He said that the TRS recognised the needs of Krishna delta and wanted the Government to build the project at another location. "We will speak to the Chief Minister first and if he is not convinced, we may have to knock at the doors of the Prime Minister and even speak to the AICC president, Sonia Gandhi," he said.

Pre-poll tension

Alleging that the Telugu Desam was responsible for the pre-poll tension in Siddipet town and the resultant lathicharge on Tuesday, he pointed out that the police took the right action at the right time and there was no need to suspend the circle inspector.

Casts vote

K. Chandrasekhar Rao cast his vote at a polling booth in his native village Chintamadka, 14 km from Siddipet town. He, along with his wife, Sobha, arrived at the village at 12 noon. Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao, being a local, was received by a few people present in the vicinity of the polling station, including the widow of his childhood teacher.
